Customer Spotlight: Evan Berney Bar Mitzvah

In today’s Customer Spotlight, we interviewed Marilyn Atlas-Berney from Mountainside, New Jersey. She and husband Michael, along with their son Evan, selected the Sanctity Bar Mitzvah Invitation. This invitation features timeless elegance that will be admired for years to come!

How did you go about your search for a Bat Mitzvah invitation? Did you find us using an internet search or by word of mouth from a friend or relative?

Let me start by saying that I had approached my son’s bar mitzvah with the thought process that this should be a happy, wonderful, relatively stress free event – otherwise it just wouldn’t be worth it. Such an event should be surrounded by Good Karma. My son wasn’t so concerned with his invitations, but I wanted something that spoke to the Bar Mitzvah day, the child and our family.

I had attended many local “Mitzvah Fairs”. I met an “Invitation Lady” who had lots of great stuff. I made an initial appointment with her and found some things I liked but nothing I loved. I figured if I was spending a good deal of money on invitations, it should be something I was proud to present to our friends and family. After going back and forth with the “Invitation Lady” about appointment times and options, I knew this just wasn’t going to work out…and so I turned to the World Wide Web. After checking a few sites and making a few calls, I was hooked on Invitations4Less.com. Invitations4Less had all the things I had seen by Checkerboard, and much, much more! I immediately gravitated towards an invitation by Mosaica Studios, made in Israel. I spoke to Jeanne, and she had the most wonderful things to say about the vendor. After a few small tweaks, we were on our way.

What did you find most appealing about the invitation that was selected for Evan’s Bar Mitzvah?

I liked that it was unique, very elegant and made in Israel. It had a Jewish/Israeli feel, but was not overly religious in nature. The printer was able to insert text in places other than the main body of the page, for accent. And the plike backing paper used – WOW! So beautiful!

Evan Berney

Evan Berney

In what ways did Invitations4Less.com stand out when assisting you with your order?

Personalized Customer service. Customer Service. Customer Service. And Price! Should I say it again? I was a bit hesitant ordering invitations from a company based in Iowa, dealing with a vendor in Israel – there were lots of time zones to contend with. Not to mention an unprecedented snowstorm in Jerusalem that brought businesses in Israel to a halt. But I have to say, compared to what I was going through dealing with a person here in NJ, face-to-face, this was an easy and seamless process. I was able to get clear, no nonsense pricing quotes, adjust my order as needed (175 pieces of this, 200 of that, 100 of this, etc.), and see and change proofs without a $25 fee every time I tweaked the proof, unlike many local vendors charge. Finally, one evening, after I had confirmed the order, I realized I had forgotten a symbol on the top right corner of the invitation – I emailed Jeanne and even though it was 7pm at night in NJ, after business hours in Iowa and whatever time in Israel, she caught the printer in time, and the addition made it to the invitation! Jeanne was always accessible, responsive and absolutely amazing.

As for price, Invitations4Less.com was able to match or beat any other vendor’s price. Plus, I hadn’t been presented with invitations by this company locally before I found it on Invitations4less.com.

At a time when there are so many decisions to be made, Jeanne from Invitations4Less.com, made things go a bit easier and smoother.

What would you say to other families that are hesitant to order their invitations online from Invitations4Less.com?

Don’t hesitate for one second! Jeanne and the people at Invitations4Less.com are professionals – reliable, available and respectful to work with. They really LISTEN to the customer and bend over backwards to fulfill the customer’s needs and wants.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Ordering invitations should be a fun and creative process – not a chore. While you may not meet Jeanne face-to-face, you can see her demonstrations on YouTube to put a face to the voice, and she is always there to assist!

Customer Spotlight: Aaron Hanania Bar Mitzvah

In today’s Customer Spotlight, we interviewed Alison Hanania from Orland Park, Illinois. She and husband Ray, along with their son Aaron, selected the Starburst Pocket Bar Mitzvah Invitation. We couldn’t agree more; this is a stunning invitation and one that will be admired for generations to come!

How did you go about your search for a Bar Mitzvah invitation? Did you find us using an Internet search or by word of mouth from a friend or relative?

After first visiting a local party store, searching through their selection and finding the perfect Bar Mitzvah invitation, I experience sticker shock when I was quoted the estimate. I decided to search on the internet and came across Invitations4less.com. Their selection is amazing, but my son’s heart was set on the invitation we found at the party store. I searched through their website and there it was, the invitation that my son had his heart set on. Ordering a sample was simple and it arrived very quickly. It was the exact same invitation we had seen at the party store.

Aaron Hanania Spotlight

Aaron Hanania Spotlight

What did you find most appealing about the invitation that was selected for Aaron’s Bar Mitzvah?

I was looking for a pocket style invitation while my son wanted a Jewish theme that sparkled. We found both of these in our invitation. The MOST appealing aspect is that we saved almost $1,000.00 ordering from Invitations4less.com!

In what ways did Invitations4Less.com stand out when assisting you with your order?

Their customer service is AMAZING! Ellen and Jeanne were so helpful with all aspects of ordering, from answering questions, to helping with my proofs. I have NEVER had such wonderful customer service from an online company. My questions were answered thoroughly and often within just minutes of my emails. After watching our guest list grow and grow, I realized that I had not ordered enough invitations. I emailed customer service, and within an hour, my second order was sent to the printer and in process. Amazing service, amazing company!

What would you say to other families that are hesitant to order their invitations online from Invitations4Less.com?

It took me a couple weeks to place my order. I had saved it on their website, and daily, I would go to the saved section and look to see if it was exactly what we wanted. I finally decided to place my order and the proofs arrived via email the next day. I couldn’t be happier. Don’t hesitate to order from Invitations4less.com. I have NEVER experienced such wonderful service from any company, online or in store.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

When our invitations arrived, my son was the first to open the boxes. Seeing the happiness on his face was a moment I will never forget. We are so happy with our invitations and are excited to send them to friends and family who will be amazed at their beauty.

Customer Spotlight: Emily Mandell Bat Mitzvah

Our very first Customer Spotlight features an interview with David Mandell regarding his recent experience with Invitations4Less.com. David, Marissa, and Emily Mandell reside in Lake Worth, Florida and chose the Adorable Aqua invitation suite for Emily’s upcoming Bat Mitzvah.

How did you go about your search for a Bat Mitzvah invitation? Did you find us using an internet search or by word of mouth from a friend or relative?

We found Invitations4Less.com by simply using an internet search. We wanted an invitation that would allow us the flexibility to have multiple different reception cards (so that different guests could get different cards, depending upon who was invited to what), and it seemed like that would be more possible with the invitations on this site, compared to some other sites. We also liked how the products on the website were more attractive and seemingly higher quality that the simple, cheap-looking do-it-yourself glossy one-page invites on photo paper that are plentiful on the internet, but that there were still products that weren’t too expensive and over-the-top.

Adorable Aqua Bat Mitzvah Invitation

Adorable Aqua Bat Mitzvah Invitation

What did you find most appealing about the invitation that was selected for Emily’s Bat Mitzvah?

The most appealing aspects of appearance of the invitation we chose were the tri-fold pattern and the beautiful aqua color, which is a color we had already chosen for the Bat-Mitzvah. The most appealing part about the technical aspects of the invitation was the ability to have multiple different reception cards (one for hotel information, one for a Friday night dinner, one for a Sunday brunch), and the ability to add extra lines of copy where needed.

In what ways did Invitations4Less.com stand out when assisting you with your order?

What stood out most was customer service. Although we liked the appearance of the invitation on-line, we had a lot of questions regarding how we could add more lines of copy, how we could make multiple different reception cards, how we could add a name in English and Hebrew, how we could have guests’ addresses printed for us on the mailing envelopes, how many extra envelopes are we supposed to order, how to navigate the ordering process on-line, etc., etc. The information on the website didn’t address all these issues, so each time we had a question, we contacted the company via email, and rapidly (within hours, and sometimes even within minutes) received a helpful, productive response. With our initial questions, we were just testing the waters, as we were still actively searching many websites. The unusually helpful and prompt email responses and customer service at Invitations4Less is what led us to stop searching for any further invitations and just go with this company, because we could tell it was going to be an easy process.

What would you say to other families that are hesitant to order their invitations online from Invitations4Less.com?

Our advice would be that if you see an invitation you like on the website, but aren’t sure if it can be tailored to your specific needs, to not rely solely on the information on the website, but to contact the company via email (they have a contact link). You can ask any and all questions (no question is too small), and you’ll be impressed at how rapid and clear a response you’ll get, and how flexible and accommodating they are.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Ordering invitations is stressful, as are all the other components of planning a big event. Let the customer service and quality of the invitations at Invitations4Less allow you to have one less stressful thing to worry about; it certainly made life easier for us.

The staff at Invitations4Less.com congratulates Emily and wishes the entire Mandell family “Mazel Tov!”

History of Valentine’s Day

Each year on February 14, loved ones exchange cards, candy, flowers and gifts, all in the name of a mystic saint, St. Valentine. Who was this saint, and how did these traditions start? Explore the history of the most romantic day of the year!

Within the Catholic Church, at least three different martyred saints bore the name Valentine or Valentinus. One particular Saint Valentine is said to have performed surreptitious Christian weddings for soldiers who were banned by Roman Emperor Claudius II from partaking in the sacrament of marriage. The legend also states that Saint Valentine cut hearts from parchment and gave the hearts to soldiers and other oppressed Christians. This may explain the widespread use of the heart motif on Valentine’s Day.

Roman Emperor Claudius II insisted that Saint Valentine convert to Roman Paganism, and when he refused, he was sentenced to death. While imprisoned, Valentine fell in love with a young girl who visited him. On the eve of his death, it is said that he wrote a letter to the girl and signed it “From your Valentine,” an expression that is widely used today.

Valentines Day Cards

Valentines Day Cards

The paper Valentine first appeared sometime after 1400 A.D. A poem written in 1415 by Charles, Duke of Orleans, is the oldest known Valentine in existence. He expressed his love for his wife while he was imprisoned in the Tower of London.

During the 17th century, Valentine’s Day began to be regularly celebrated in Great Britain. By the middle of the 18th century, it was common for friends and lovers in much of the world to exchange tokens or sentiments of love.

The Greeting Card Association estimates that 1 billion Valentines are sent each year, making Valentine’s Day the second largest mailing holiday of the year. (An estimated 2.6 billion cards are sent for the Christmas holiday.) It’s interesting to note that approximately 85 percent of all Valentines are purchased by women.

Invitations4Less.com has a wonderful selection of Valentine’s Day cards. Include your photo for an even more personal touch! And when you consider how much individual cards cost at your local card store, our prices can’t be beat!

Importance of RSVP Cards

As we continue to look at the impact the digital age has had on the printing industry, it is not a surprise that customers nowadays are opting to use electronic formats in combination with printed options to communicate with their guests. In all the changes we have seen over the years, the omission of response cards has been the biggest. Here are my thoughts on letting the traditional response set go.

Omitting the reply card for the invitation ensemble does generate a savings on postage and the cost of the cards themselves. This does seem to be a priority for many of our customers. But there are a few very important points to consider before moving ahead with this option.

RSVP Samples

RSVP Samples

First of all, carefully review your guest list and try to determine how your guests are going to want to reply to your event. This isn’t an easy task in this day and age. We are in the middle of two generations right now. The younger generation is used to communicating by email and phone. A reply by email, phone or text is more the norm. Checking the mail is not an everyday occurrence for the younger generation. But those from an older generation expect to send a more formal response through the mail.

Another thing to remember when you opt to use an email or phone reply is that it can be very timing consuming. Some type of courteous reply to the email is expected and phone calls can take time. I have heard two sides from customers. I had a father ordering Bar Mitzvah invitations just last week tell me how excited he was to hear from all of his relatives via the response cards, especially those that couldn’t make it. On the other hand, I have had other customers tell me they simply didn’t want to talk to that many friends and family during such a busy time. So the time factor involved in receiving responses by email or phone really does need to be contemplated.

One more consideration, especially if you are planning a larger event, is the ability to track your responses. Dealing with numerous emails and phones can be overwhelming especially while planning a large event. Emails and phone messages regarding responses may be vague as well. For example, if you have invited a family of five to your wedding and your friend leaves you a message saying “we” will be there, that can require some guesswork. “We” can apply to just her and her husband or the entire family. When customers reply using an actual reply card, they tend to be more specific about who and how many will be attending.

Is there anything wrong with asking your guests to reply by email, text or phone? Well, if you want to stick closely to the rules of etiquette, then you will want to order the response card set and include it with the invitation. Many find it acceptable to use the corner copy of an invitation for reply instructions. In most cases, the decision to add the reply information to the invitation or reception card really depends on the look and layout of the chosen invitation. Many invitations just cannot accommodate additional information such as reply information and it’s important not to try to “make it fit”. It deters from the overall appearance of the invitation.

Ultimately, we have so many more options to choose from when it comes to invitations due to the digital age and the e-options available. We are seeing less emphasis on the etiquette rules and more focus on practicality. When asked for advice, our hope is that we can advise our customers on all the options, educate them on etiquette and tradition, and help determine the pros and cons.
